If a Mack truck and a motorcycle have a head-on collision, upon which vehicle is the impact force greater?
Answer
I have answered this question several times over the last few months.
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction so both vehicles experience the same force.
"Change in motion" is not a precise term. It is unclear what is meant or what you wish to know.
The change in momentum of the bike is the same as the change in momentum of the truck.
F = ma
If the force is the same on both then the object with a higher mass ( the truck) will have a lower acceleration and its speed will alter by less than that of the motorcycle.
